I have lived in the West Midlands since finishing university in 1997 where I began my career at Prudential Bank/EGG. I obtained a BSc in Accounting and Finance (Hons) from Aberystwyth University and whilst in employment completed my professional examinations and became a member of ACCA. I have various accounting, project and analytical experience(s) by working in various sectors, such as banking, public sector and more recently at Aston University. I also spend some of my spare time coaching and managing a young football team and within the last year completed the FA Level 2 Coaching Badge. Over the last few years I have helped to establish a young football academy within Wolverhampton. I have three children, two of which attend Grestone. As well as being a Parent Governor, I am also the Chair of the Ofsted Post Action Plan Committee at Grestone Academy.
Nicole Andrews – Parent Governor
I am passionate about the education of children and young people and I am honoured to have the opportunity to serve as a parent governor at Grestone Academy. I feel that I have the personal and professional attributes to make a valuable contribution to the work that the governors do.
I work in the university sector as a research active academic lecturer and have an appreciation of processes and protocol. I also volunteer for a not-for-profit organisation based in Handsworth and have a real understanding of the issues that face communities living in the local area.
Rajwinder Singh – Parent Governor
• I believe that all children deserve to have the best possible start in life and great schooling is at the heart of this.
• I will challenge the school when needed and make sure that parents concerns are heard
• As a parent myself I want my local school to be an Ofsted rated outstanding school and I would work with Grestone to achieve this
• I am a parent and five of my children all attend Grestone and so I know how important it is to work with the school
• I have 15 years’ experience of working in the childcare field, giving advice and support to families, schools and partners like Ofsted
• I would help to make the school a safer place by looking at the parking problems, smoking at the gates etc.
I have an open door policy and feel that only by working together can we can build a school great enough for our children, that means every parent and every child working to together with the staff at Grestone Academy
Samantha Bailey – Staff Governor
I have worked as Senior Office Manager & PA to the Heads of School at Grestone Academy since late 2015 and, during my time here, I have become incredibly passionate about the school’s reputation and success. Since graduating in 2012 from The University of Reading with a degree in English Literature and a Masters degree in Children’s Literature, I have worked in Admin teams at a number of different schools across Birmingham. I firmly believe that every day is a school day, even after you leave school, and I can safely say that I learn something new every day when working in the Education sector!
Our pupils deserve to receive the very best in education and pastoral care and I hope that my time as staff governor can help to work towards this.
